How To Get A Good Night’s Sleep
The elusive good night’s sleep. The busy, modern world has become the enemy of sleep and rest, in fact ask anyone if they had a good 8 hours last night and you’ll be hard pressed to find a yes amongst the complaints.
With so much to do each day, so much expected of us and such limited time, we push the boundaries to get more done and sleep is the commodity that usually suffers. Ufortunately, sleep is a necessity and as such shouldn’t be relegated so unfairly to the lower echelons of importance.
Your health needs sleep
If you want a fast metabolism and a healthy immune system then you’df better start taking sleep seriously. Constant sleep deprivation can lead to a serious weakening of the immune system. Your body just can’t fight of infection and illness without adequate rest.
Not getting enough sleep for an extended period of time will affect your concentration and mood as well as causing erratic realeases of cortisol - The hormone that attacks muscle tissue for energy. This leads to the slowing of the metabolism and increased fat storage.
Have I got your attention yet?
You need, you probably want it and you know you’ve got to have it - So what now?
Do not cat nap - Save your tired eyes for bedtime and sleep deep.
Do not consume caffeine near bed time - Not anywhere near bed time unless you like staying up counting the stars
Do not eat before bed - Digestion can keep you awake even when you’re tired
Do not overstimulate your mind - Relax and wind down, no erratic over excertion.
Keep your body healthy and eat well. Exercise helps with bringing on sleep so long as you don’t exercise near bed time.
Here’s wishing you a nice cosy slumber.
