The difference between fats
There are several types of fats. Monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, trans, saturated - But what are which and which are good.
First I’d like to say that trans are bad and should be avoided like the plague, but luckily they are almost a thing of the past like olestra and sacharin. Saturated fats aren’t as bad as they have been made out to be.
Saturated fats are only bad if consumed in heavy excess inthe absence of good fats. You can find saturated fats in meat fat and dairy based fats as well as palm and coconut oils.
Monounsaturated fats are good fats as they help reduce cholesterol and improve cardiovascular function. They are available in olive oil, nuts fish and flaxseeds.
Polyunsaturated fats are also good although are not as good as monunsaturated fats. They can be found in soy and soya oil, margarines and many other foods.
